Lee Bok-hyun, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), announced on the 17th that an investigation is underway into Sambu Construction, which was previously highlighted as a Ukraine reconstruction-themed stock, following allegations of stock price manipulation.
During the National Assembly's National Policy Committee audit, in response to a question from Rep. Kim Hyun-jung of the Democratic Party of Korea regarding whether an investigation into Sambu Construction's stock manipulation is ongoing, Governor Lee explained, "We received the results of an unusual trading analysis from the Korea Exchange," adding, "This has triggered the investigation, and it is currently underway."
He further emphasized, "It is appropriate for the Financial Supervisory Service to conduct an internal investigation first, rather than immediately proceeding to legal action."
In July, the Korea Exchange initiated an unusual trading analysis due to the possibility of stock price manipulation involving Sambu Construction.
As the financial authorities' investigation gains momentum, attention is focused on whether the truth behind the stock manipulation allegations will be uncovered.
The opposition party has raised stock manipulation allegations, claiming that after a message saying "Check Sambu" appeared in a chat room linked to former Black Pearl Investment CEO Lee Jong-ho, who is alleged to have been involved in lobbying for the release of former Marine Corps 1st Division Commander Lim Seong-geun, Sambu Construction's stock price and trading volume surged.
