Samsung Electronics has been pushed down to 3rd place, losing the top spot it held for four consecutive years in Forbes' "World's Best Employers" ranking.

In this latest ranking, jointly conducted by Forbes and the German polling firm Statista, Microsoft took the top spot, with Google’s parent company Alphabet coming in second, both surpassing Samsung Electronics.

The survey covered more than 300,000 employees from multinational companies across 50 countries. Employees rated their companies based on criteria such as salary, benefits, talent development, and remote work.

While Samsung Electronics remained the only Asian company in the top 10, it could not avoid a drop in the rankings amidst intensifying global competition.

The decline in Samsung’s ranking is attributed to factors such as the recent downturn in the semiconductor industry, labor disputes, and dissatisfaction with performance bonuses.

In particular, the company’s large-scale deficit in the semiconductor sector, followed by its first-ever strike in July, exacerbated internal conflicts, likely influencing the rankings.

Samsung’s third-quarter performance also fell short of expectations, prompting an unusual apology from the company’s management.

The company cited the slump in the DRAM market and delays in the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) business as the main reasons for the poor performance.

Meanwhile, U.S. and European companies dominated the upper ranks in this year’s survey.

Global giants like Adobe, BMW, Delta Airlines, IKEA, and IBM secured spots in the top 10, while NVIDIA, a leading AI semiconductor company, surged by 132 places from last year to rank 22nd.

Among Korean companies, a total of 24, including Samsung Electronics, made the list. KB Financial Group saw a remarkable rise from 48th place last year to 11th this year, drawing attention.
