The Incheon Metropolitan City announced that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport has approved and notified the implementation plan for the private investment section of the GTX-B line, a metropolitan express railway starting from Incheon Songdo International City, on the 11th.

With this implementation plan confirmed and announced, Incheon City plans to actively pursue the construction of an additional station that can transfer to the Suin-Bundang Line and the 2nd Gyeongin Line. They also plan to prepare for the establishment of a connected railway network, the construction of a complex transfer center, and the reorganization of metropolitan and city bus systems to ensure that all Incheon citizens benefit as much as possible.

The GTX-B line is a metropolitan express railway connecting major hubs in the metropolitan area within 30 minutes. It starts from Incheon Songdo International City, passes through Incheon City Hall, Bupyeong, and Seoul, and connects to Maseok in Namyangju. The total length is 82.8 km, with 14 stations to be constructed.

With a target opening in 2030, approximately 6.8 trillion KRW (2.5 trillion KRW from the government and 4.3 trillion KRW from private investments) will be invested. The section from Yongsan Station to Sangbong Station, about 20 km, will be a 'government-funded section,' while the sections from Incheon National University Station to Yongsan Station (about 40 km) and from Sangbong Station to Maseok Station (about 23 km) will be constructed using the 'Build-Transfer-Operate (BTO)' method, with the entire section operated by a private business entity.

Due to the urgency of alleviating severe traffic congestion in the metropolitan area and enhancing national competitiveness, Incheon City has made the 'early commencement of GTX-B and the establishment of additional stations' a core pledge of the 8th elected term. The city has formed and operated a consultative body with Yeonsu-gu Office, Namdong-gu Office, and Bupyeong-gu Office along the GTX line, and has swiftly promoted cooperation with central government departments, permits, and administrative procedures.

The city expects that GTX-B will effectively alleviate traffic congestion for commuters in the metropolitan area, promote balanced regional development, and facilitate investment attraction in the economic free zone.

Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok said, "With the approval and notification of the GTX-B implementation plan, we will thoroughly manage the project from the early stages to ensure timely opening, and we will do our best to establish Incheon as a central hub city for GTX transportation, including lines D and E."
