In July 2020, China's unmanned probe Chang'e-5 collected soil samples from the moon, which will be displayed to the public in Thailand from July 22 to 28.

The exhibition will be held for free at the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT) booth during the event 'The Power of Science for the Future of Thailand.'

On July 10, NARIT announced on social media, "This is the first time that China's lunar soil samples are being exhibited overseas."

The exhibition was made possible through cooperation with the China National Space Administration, and it is expected to serve as an important measure of the political and diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Chang'e-5 was launched in November 2020, collected about 1.7 kg of soil samples from the front side of the moon, and safely returned to Earth in December of the same year.

Meanwhile, Chinese researchers have reportedly discovered graphene, a form of pure carbon, in the samples brought back by Chang'e-5.

The discovery was made through a detailed analysis of a lunar soil sample measuring 2.9 mm in width and 1.6 mm in length by researchers from Jilin University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Metal Research, and the National Deep Space Exploration Research Institute.

The researchers stated that this is the first confirmation of the existence of natural graphene in lunar soil.
