KakaoTalk messenger experienced another service disruption after two months, causing significant inconvenience to users.
According to Kakao, from around 10:54 a.m. on the 18th, some users of the PC version of KakaoTalk and the portal 'Daum' had login issues, and all functions were restored around 12:20 p.m. through emergency maintenance. Kakao stated that the cause of this disruption was a "network error."
This disruption coincided with heavy rain concentrated in Seoul and the surrounding metropolitan area, causing even greater confusion.
It has been two months since the last disruption in KakaoTalk.
In May, there were consecutive service disruptions in KakaoTalk.
At that time, the Ministry of Science and ICT conducted an emergency on-site inspection and demanded that Kakao submit corrective measures within three months.
On May 13th, a six-minute disruption caused about 80% of users to experience message sending delays and failures.
Additionally, on May 20th and 21st, consecutive days of message sending and receiving delays occurred, leading to significant user dissatisfaction.
Kakao announced that it will thoroughly investigate the cause of the disruption and take measures to prevent recurrence.
