Mirae Asset Capital announced that Apex, a U.S. satellite bus manufacturer in which it has invested, has expanded its supply chain for national security missions through a partnership with U.S. defense technology company Anduril Industries.
On October 1, Anduril Industries announced that it had decided to source satellite buses from Apex for use in its national security missions.
Through this agreement, Anduril plans to strengthen its national security-related operations, including Space Domain Awareness (SDA), satellite defense, and in-orbit data processing.
Anduril’s Senior Vice President Gokul Subramanian mentioned that Apex was chosen because "Apex offers shorter production timelines than its competitors and can quickly provide commercialized satellite buses."
Anduril plans to use Apex’s satellite buses to carry edge computing and AI-based payloads in orbit through this contract.
In March of this year, Apex launched its first satellite bus model 'Aries' into space.
At that time, the payload included Anduril’s edge computing system and military command and control software.
Anduril plans to launch the Aries-based satellites with edge computing and infrared imaging payloads by 2025, aiming to demonstrate the technologies necessary for national security in orbit.
