On the 29th, China's Shenzhou-19 arrived at the Tiangong Space Station.
After being launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on a Long March-2F rocket, Shenzhou-19 separated from the upper stage of the rocket about 10 minutes later and successfully docked with the core module Tianhe of the Tiangong Space Station 6 hours and 30 minutes after liftoff.
The mission commander Cai Xuzhe, air force astronaut Song Lingdong, and China's first female space engineer Wang Haoze are aboard Shenzhou-19. They have begun the handover operations with the crew of Shenzhou-18, who have been stationed at Tiangong.
The astronauts of Shenzhou-18 are scheduled to return to Earth on November 3.
According to China’s space program, the Shenzhou-19 astronauts will remain on Tiangong for approximately six months to carry out various research and technology verification missions.
They will mainly be responsible for conducting space environment experiments, observing the biological effects of long-term space stays, and testing the performance of new experimental equipment and systems.
China is preparing a new expansion project to commercialize the current Tiangong Space Station.
Initially, a multi-functional expansion module with six docking ports will be docked with the existing space station, with plans to attach additional modules to expand the station.
This approach allows the core module, which currently constitutes the Tiangong Space Station, to continue operating as it is, while expanding the station's scope of use for space tourism and other commercial purposes.
