Perigee Aero's Offshore Launch Pad Tilts in Strong Winds, Towing Underway

 

 

 

An offshore suborbital rocket launch pad owned by 'Perigee Aerospace' ran aground in strong winds on November 27.

According to local reports, the barge-type offshore launch pad, located near Yongsoori, Hangyeong-myeon, Jeju, tilted approximately 40 degrees due to high winds and rough seas.

At the time, a marine storm advisory was in effect for Jeju. Although the barge was anchored and unmanned, it reportedly drifted off position due to the severe waves.

The barge, named 'Cetecea 1,' weighs 275 tons and measures 32 meters in length and 20 meters in width.

A representative from Perigee stated in an interview, "It seems the barge was displaced by strong waves. As it is non-powered, we plan to begin towing operations once the weather improves."
