The Criminal Division 3 of the Jeonju District Prosecutors' Office (Head Prosecutor Han Yeon-gyu), which is investigating the recent relocation of former President Moon Jae-in's daughter Da-hye's family to Thailand, announced on the 3rd that they had raided the Board of Audit and Inspection in Jongno-gu, Seoul last month.

The raid is reportedly related to the Board of Audit and Inspection's failure to conduct an audit in response to a public interest audit request in 2019 concerning Da-hye's family's relocation to Thailand.

Previously, in June 2019, the Board of Audit and Inspection decided not to conduct an audit regarding the public interest audit request about Da-hye's family's relocation to Thailand, accepting the advisory committee's opinion that it was not subject to audit due to "private rights relations" and that there was no basis to view the handling of the matter by public institutions as illegal or unfair.

The prosecution has secured the non-disclosure decision document and related materials from the time of the public interest audit request rejection through this raid, and plans to conduct further investigations based on these.

The Board of Audit and Inspection stated that the content of the public interest audit request at the time was deemed not subject to audit under the Board of Audit and Inspection Act, but the prosecution is closely examining the legality of that decision.
