The main perpetrator of the widely known 'Seoul National University N Room' digital sex crime case, Park Mo (40), claimed diminished capacity as he stood trial.
During the trial on the 10th, presided over by Judge Park Joon-seok of the 31st Criminal Division at the Seoul Central District Court, Park's attorney responded to the court's question by asserting "diminished capacity" regarding Park's mental state.
Park, dressed in a prison uniform, entered the courtroom and was seen covering his ears and whimpering as the prosecution read out the charges.
Park's defense acknowledged the distribution of fake videos and expressed remorse but denied the habitual nature of the crimes and the charges of incitement.
The attorney requested a legal judgment, arguing, "There is insufficient evidence to prove habitual offenses."
Regarding the incitement charge, the defense claimed, "Kang Mo started producing fake videos two months before the crime," and argued, "It cannot be seen that the crime was committed due to Park's suggestion or provision of photos."
Meanwhile, the attorney for Kang Mo, who was tried alongside Park, admitted to all charges.
The 'Seoul National University N Room' case involves Park, a Seoul National University graduate, and Kang, who from July 2021 to April 2023, created and distributed manipulated pornographic images of female alumni.
Investigations revealed a total of 61 victims, including 12 alumni from Seoul National University.
Currently, four individuals, including Park and Kang, have been indicted for their involvement in the crimes.
