'Drug Use' Oh Jae-won, 29 People Involved Sent to Prosecution...Including 9 Current Doosan Players

 

 

 

Former national team professional baseball player Oh Jae-won (39) has been implicated in a drug prescription and use case, revealing a total of 29 people involved, including 9 current Doosan Bears players.

On the 10th, Seoul Gangnam Police Station announced that they had sent 29 people to the prosecution on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. These individuals were accused of receiving and delivering psychotropic drugs Stillnox and Xanax on behalf of Oh Jae-won or supplying a large quantity of Etomidate.

Among those involved are 13 former and current professional baseball players and one Doosan Bears trainer. Notably, 9 current Doosan Bears players are implicated in this case.

Oh Jae-won’s drug use is estimated to have started in early 2020.

It was revealed that he habitually used narcotics even during his active career until he retired in October 2022.

Oh Jae-won is already in custody and on trial for habitual drug use and possession charges.

During the police investigation, it was also confirmed that Oh Jae-won’s acquaintance, Mr. Lee, purchased thousands of Etomidate ampoules from the director of a hospital in the metropolitan area without proper consultation and prescription.

Etomidate, known as the second Propofol, is a general anesthetic. Unlike Propofol, which is classified as a psychotropic drug, Etomidate is designated as a prescription drug, thus hospital officials were charged with violating the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act.

Oh Jae-won joined the Doosan Bears in 2007 and played for 16 seasons until his retirement in 2022, experiencing three championships (2015, 2016, 2019).

He also played as a national team member in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games and the 2015 Premier12.
