POSCO announced on the 12th that the 'POSCO Master Craftsman of the Year 2024' has been selected as Seong-hoon Seo, Manager of Pohang Safety and Disaster Prevention Group, Won-jong Lee, Part Leader of Pohang EIC Technology Department, and Won-chae Jeong, Part Leader of Gwangyang Ironmaking Equipment Department.

This selection is part of POSCO's Master Craftsman system, aimed at discovering talented individuals who possess both technical skills and character, with the goal of advancing and transmitting steel technology.

Since its introduction in 2015, a total of 28 master craftsmen have been produced up to this year.

Master Craftsman Seong-hoon Seo joined the company in 1990 and went through the rolling equipment and innovation organizations at the Pohang Steelworks. After moving to the Safety and Disaster Prevention Group in 2015, he established the POSCO Process Safety Management system and contributed to POSCO achieving the highest P grade in the Process Safety Management evaluation for the first time in the steel industry in 2020.

Master Craftsman Won-jong Lee, who joined the company in 1985, played a key role in improving and operating customized control systems for automatic control of rolling processes, such as coil tension and shape control, enhancing productivity and product quality.

Master Craftsman Won-chae Jeong has dedicated himself to chemical maintenance for 34 years since joining the company in 1990. He contributed to enhancing the competitiveness of chemical operations and creating a safe working environment through innovative electrical equipment improvements.

POSCO CEO Si-woo Lee stated, "The POSCO Master Craftsman is the highest honor for production technicians who have consistently built their capabilities in one field over a long period," and expressed his expectation that the newly selected master craftsmen would take the lead in advancing 'Technology POSCO.'
