Taiwan Mobile Successfully Tests 'Direct-to-Cell' Satellite Communication

 

 

 

Taiwanese telecom company Taiwan Mobile has partnered with U.S. space startup Lynk Global to test the 'Direct-to-Cell' service in Taiwan, local media reported on November 26.

Taiwan Mobile is the first telecom operator in Taiwan to successfully conduct a 'Direct-to-Cell' test.

In a statement released the same day, Taiwan Mobile explained, “In remote mountainous areas and isolated regions where traditional base station signals cannot reach, mobile phones can connect directly to communication satellites to maintain seamless communication.”
