Kazakhstan has officially joined the manned lunar base project (International Lunar Research Station, ILRS) led by China.

The cooperation agreement was signed during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Kazakhstan on the 3rd.

According to a joint statement between the two countries, "Kazakhstan and China actively support the exchange and cooperation between aerospace agencies and enterprises for the peaceful use of outer space, and will promote cooperation in the Moon and deep space, as well as the reception and exchange of remote sensing data."

This means that the two countries will strengthen cooperation in the field of space exploration and research, pursuing mutual benefits through joint technology development and data sharing.

At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization+ summit held in Astana, Kazakhstan, on the 4th, President Xi emphasized the importance of space exploration through international cooperation, stating, "China welcomes all parties to use the BeiDou satellite navigation system and participate in the construction of the International Lunar Research Station (ILRS)."

This agreement is expected to significantly contribute to Kazakhstan's enhancement of its technological capabilities and international standing, while strengthening cooperation with China in the field of space development.

Additionally, the ILRS project is seen as an important milestone in establishing a lunar base through the collaboration of various countries and setting long-term space exploration plans.
