Las Vegas, a representative tourist city in Nevada, USA, is expected to emerge as the center of space tourism.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently officially approved the construction plan for the ‘Las Vegas Spaceport’ for space tourism in Las Vegas.
This project gained momentum after receiving approval from the Clark County Commission last May and securing final approval from federal agencies within two months.
With this decision, Las Vegas is now ready to leap forward as the hub of the space tourism industry.
The spaceport will be built on a 240-acre site north of Highway 160 near the Pahrump area.
It will include various facilities such as training facilities for private space travelers, a control tower, runways, spacecraft hangars, passenger terminals, observatories, and hotels.
The space planes will support space tourism by taking off horizontally using the runway.
Robert Lauer, leading the ‘Las Vegas Spaceport,’ welcomed the FAA’s approval, stating, “This decision is an important milestone in making the vision of the Las Vegas Spaceport a reality.”
He also mentioned, “We will continue this journey with more support in the future.”
According to local media, the groundbreaking ceremony for the spaceport is expected to begin within the next three months.
This project is anticipated to innovatively transform Las Vegas’s tourism industry and attract the attention of tourists worldwide dreaming of space travel.
