
Hyundai Motor Group continues to strengthen its position in the UK auto market, achieving record-breaking sales figures.
Following a record annual sales volume in 2023, the group has maintained high sales growth in the first half of 2024.
Eco-friendly vehicle sales, including battery electric vehicles (BEVs), hybrids (HEVs), and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), accounted for nearly half of the total sales, establishing the group as a leader in the eco-friendly vehicle market.
According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis brands sold 107,326 units in the first half of this year, a 1.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
Hyundai Motor Group recorded a market share of 10.66% in the UK during the first half of the year, maintaining over a 10% market share for three consecutive years.
Hyundai sold 46,404 units from January to June, ranking 9th in the UK auto market, while luxury brand Genesis sold 556 units, ranking 39th.
Kia sold 60,366 units, securing the 4th position.
Notably, Kia's Sportage was highly popular, ranking 2nd in model sales with 24,139 units sold.
With eco-friendly vehicles accounting for 38.4% of the UK auto market, Hyundai Motor Group has responded by launching various eco-friendly models.
Hyundai offers a lineup of seven electric vehicles, including the Ioniq 5 N, while Kia operates four electric vehicle models, including the newly added EV9.
As a result of these efforts, Hyundai Motor Group's eco-friendly vehicle sales reached 53,169 units in the first half of this year, a 9.0% increase compared to the same period last year, accounting for 49.5% of total sales in the UK.
Hyundai Motor Group's eco-friendly vehicle sales have steadily increased since 2020.
In the UK, Hyundai Motor Group engages in various cultural, artistic, and sports sponsorship activities.
Hyundai supports the 'Hyundai Commission' and 'Hyundai Tate Research Centre' through a partnership with the world-renowned Tate Modern.
Additionally, the 'Genesis Scottish Open' golf tournament is set to take place, sponsored by Genesis.
Hyundai Motor Group has also opened the 'Oxford-Hyundai Motor Group Future Research Centre' in collaboration with the University of Oxford.
This center focuses on researching geopolitical changes and risk factors of future societies, aiming to design the company's long-term future direction.
Through these diverse efforts, Hyundai Motor Group aims to further strengthen its position in the UK auto market and establish itself as a leader in the eco-friendly vehicle market.
