China is investing 17.8 billion yuan in the globalization of the BeiDou navigation satellite system.
Of this, 7.83 billion yuan is allocated to promoting the use of BeiDou in industrial and consumer applications.
This information was disclosed at the “3rd BDS Application International Summit” held on October 25 in Hunan Province, China.
During the event, Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency announced its plan to incorporate BeiDou into its early warning system.
Xiang Libin, Vice Chairman of China's National Development and Reform Commission, who attended the summit, expressed his hope that the BeiDou system would be widely used in short-message communications and international rescue operations in many countries.
Xiang also noted that over 1.4 billion devices are connected to the BeiDou navigation system in China alone, and efforts would continue to expand its applications in areas such as automobiles, smart agriculture, aviation, and tourism.
According to reports, BeiDou is already being used for port management in Pakistan, river transportation in Myanmar, agriculture in Laos, and urban planning in Brunei.
